CIPRO – Annual returns for private companies

Following representations made regarding the serious delays that members have been experiencing in accessing the CIPRO website to lodge annual returns for private companies, CIPRO has issued the following notice:

1. Private companies will be granted a two month extension within which to lodge their annual returns namely, private companies incorporated during May, June and July must lodge their annual returns by 31 August 2005.
   
   
2. No penalties will apply to those private companies incorporated during May and June who fail to lodge their annual returns by the end of June and July 2005 respectively.
   
   
3. Any annual returns in respect of private companies incorporated during  May, June and July that are lodged after 31 August 2005 will have the R150 penalty imposed on them.
   
   
4. CIPRO is in the process of addressing its website capacity and making arrangements for traffic to go directly via its service provider rather than first through the DTI and Government's IT provider. It is likely that this process will take approximately four weeks but once complete will significantly increase the accessibility and speed on their website.
   
   
5. Members are strongly urged not to wait until the end of August 2005 to lodge returns for May and June incorporated companies. They should continue to lodge the returns as they fall due.
