NOTES OF MEETING WITH THE CIPRO – 10 AUGUST 2006

The following is a summary of the main items discussed at a meeting between representatives from various bodies, including CSIG, and the Acting Registrar of Companies and senior CIPRO staff.

1. CIPRO WEBSITE AND SPEED ACCESS
Contradictory to what was reported at the previous meeting, it appears that Telkom has not completed the installation of all equipment with the last four “Mega Bytes” outstanding. The CEO of CIPRO is taking the matter up with Telkom. It was suggested that CIPRO consider doing away with the penalties for late submissions until their website issues have been resolved. CIPRO have also been requested to consider “ bulk submission”.

CIPRO/SARS
The communication between SARS and CIPRO was still proving to be problematic.

ANNUAL RETURNS
An extension was granted until the end of September 2006.

CIPRO RESTRUCTURE AND MANAGEMENT
Mr. Keith Sendwe was appointed as CEO with effect from 01st September 2006. A number of vacant positions were being advertised.

OPERATIONAL ISSUES
The statistics on the volume trends of CM and CK forms’ lodgements indicate that the CIPRO electronic submission facilities are being well utilised. As a number of name reservation applications appear to be erroneously rejected, CIPRO were requested to consider training the appropriate staff in an effort to reduce the errors.

CIPRO DEVELOPMENTS
A CIPRO pilot office exists in Cape Town staffed by two individuals.

CORPORATE LAW REFORMS AND COMPANIES ACT AMENDMENT BILL
It is expected that an update will be given at the next meeting, which will be held in November 2006.
